George proudly takes an active role as Chairman of the Board of the Bnai Zion Foundation, which supports critical health and education projects in Israel. Established in 1908, the foundation has made contributions to growth in nearly every realm of Israeli life and society, and is home to The George and Irina Schaeffer Cultural Center.
The George and Irina Schaeffer Center for the Study of Genocide, Human Rights, and Conflict Prevention houses the world’s largest audio-visual collection of testimonies from Holocaust survivors and provides AUP faculty and students, and researchers the world over, an opportunity to work with this remarkable material.
Inside the Shoah
Foundation’s headquarters on the USC campus, the George & Irina Schaeffer Hall for Genocide Study helps further
the mission of the Institute for Visual History and Education to develop empathy, understanding, and respect by sharing the testimonies of 55,000 survivors
of the Holocaust and other genocides.
